What the essential equipment needed for K2 gondogoro La trek?

Here’s a list of essential equipment needed for the K2 Gondogoro La Trek:

Alpine Boots: For optimal performance and to ensure your feet stay dry and warm, I suggest investing in a pair of double mountaineering boots such as the La Sportiva G2 SM or Scarpa Phantom 6000. If these are out of your price range, the La Sportiva Trango GTX is a great alternative and far superior to just using your regular trekking boots.
Quality Gloves: Look for gloves that are waterproof, warm, and provide good dexterity, especially for when you’ll be holding the rope while descending Gondogoro La.
Helmet and Harness: It’s crucial that you do not attempt to cross Gondogoro Pass without a helmet.
Water and Snacks: There won’t be any opportunities to refill your water bottle once you leave from Ali Camp to start the trek. Make sure to start the ascent with at least 2 liters of water and enough snacks or energy gels to keep you energized throughout the night.
Crampons: Opinions vary regarding the use of crampons on Gondogoro La. However, based on my last experience with a significant amount of ice on the descent, crampons have become a mandatory piece of gear. They are vital for descending the La in icy conditions. If you’ve never worn crampons before, try them on and get some training from your guide around Ali Camp or Concordia.

Weather can be unpredictable, with possibilities of strong winds, rain, and snow. Temperatures range from below freezing at night to warm during the day, getting colder as you ascend

What should I pack?

Pack multiple layers of clothing, including warm gear for the glacier. Also, bring essentials like a first-aid kit, trekking poles, sunscreen, and sunglasses.

How difficult is the trek?

The K2 Base Camp trek is considered challenging due to its high altitudes and rugged terrain. It’s essential to be in good physical condition

What is the deposit requirement for the K2 trekking tour?

A deposit of 40% must be required to secure your spot on the tour.

What is the cancellation by you term of this tour?

Cancellation Terms:

If you decide to cancel any or all portions of your booking, the following terms will apply:
- A cancellation becomes effective only upon receiving written confirmation from you expressing your desire to cancel.
- The cancellation fees are based on the number of days prior to departure:
60 days or more prior to departure:
- We will retain your 20% deposit amount as a credit (Deposit Credit).
Between 31 and 60 days prior to departure:
- A 40% cancellation fee will be charged based on the total booking cost.
Between 30 and 15 days prior to departure:
- A 60% cancellation fee will be charged based on the total booking cost.
14 days or fewer prior to departure:
- A 100% cancellation fee will be charged, equivalent to the entire booking cost.

In addition to the cancellation rights outlined earlier, you have the option to cancel your confirmed holiday before departure, or we may need to cancel your trip due to a Force Majeure Event occurring at your holiday destination or its immediate vicinity. Such an event significantly impacts the performance of the holiday or disrupts transport arrangements to the destination.

In these circumstances, we offer you the following choices:

- 100% credit: You can receive a credit for the full amount paid for your trip.
- Refund minus unrecoverable costs: Alternatively, you may opt for a refund, with unrecoverable costs deducted.
After Trip Commencement:
- Pro-rata credit: If the Force Majeure Event occurs after your trip has started, we offer a credit for the remaining days of your trip.
- Refund minus unrecoverable costs: Alternatively, you can choose a refund for the remaining days, with unrecoverable costs subtracted.
